KARACHI, Feb 1: A defiant 90 by Hanif Malik saved Hyderabad from total disaster against Quetta in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League game at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The wicket-keeper/batsman struck 11 fours and one six and faced 148 balls in a stay of 184 minutes to help Hyderabad make 193 in their first innings after being 74 for six at one stage. Hanif was last out.
Debutant left-arm pacer Zahoor Ahmed claimed four for 39.
Quetta, in reply, ended the first day at 91 for four with left-arm paceman Farhan Ayub continuing his good form by picking three wickets for 31 runs.
