Over Rs1.9m looted

RAWALPINDI, Jan 31: Robbers looted over Rs1.9 million in three separate holdups while thieves lifted five vehicles from different parts of the city in the last 24 hours, police said.

Akhtar Saeed complained to the Westridge police that a gang of five robbers entered his house on Tuesday night and held his family and guests at gunpoint.

The robbers looted 25 tolas of jewellery, 4,000 British pounds, Rs775,000 worth of savings certificates and Rs150,000 worth of prize bonds from the inmates and guests and escaped.

Kashif Usman complained to the Airport police that five robbers entered his shop and made away with Rs150,000 in cash and other valuables.

Ghanzafar Ali complained to the Chontra police that he was going somewhere in his van (RLF-1895) when four persons intercepted him and deprived him of Rs16,000 at gunpoint and escaped.
