Team formed to probe suicide attack


DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 31: A team has been constituted to probe and unearth those involved in the suicide attack in Dera Ismail Khan. This was stated by Dera Ismail Khan DIG, Muhammad Masood Khan Afridi, through a press release issued on Wednesday. He further said that the law enforcing agencies were moving in the direct direction and soon they’ll get hold of those responsible for the blast. He added that strict security measures were taken on the Ashura day which made possible for Muharram and Zuljanah processions to culminate peacefully.

As of suicidal attack on 9th of Muharram near Liaquat Park, he praised police constable Abdul Haleem who sacrificed his life to save the city from a massive destruction.

The Frontier Constabulary and police force performed their duties very well to secure the area from any untoward incident on the occasion, DIG Afridi added.

In separate condolence messages, President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao, NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, IGP NWFP, Muhammad Sharif Virk and Home Secretary NWFP expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Constable Abdul Haleem in the suicide attack.

They said that Abdul Haleem had offered his life to save the city and people from a major catastrophe.—APP
