KARACHI, Jan 31: A division bench of the Sindh High Court comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Faisal Arab on Wednesday set aside Sindh governor’s order and reinstated Prof Dr Rafia Shaikh as dean faculty of social sciences, Sindh Universitym Jamshoro.
Applicant Dr Rafia Shaikh through her counsel Muhammad Nawaz Shaikh submitted that on July 6, 2006 she was appointed dean of faculty of social sciences, Sindh University, through a notification approved by the vice chancellor of the university. But her appointment was reverted through the governor's order on July 13, 2006.
Her counsel stated that according to the law his client was appointed with the approval of the VC but next order by the governor was issued without consulting the VC of Sindh University.
She prayed the court to declare the governor's order illegal and reinstate her as dean of faculty of social sciences, Sindh University, Jamshoro.
