Vegetable processing centre

SIALKOT, Jan 29: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has planned to set up a food and vegetable processing/packing centre near the under-construction international airport at Sambrial on a self-help basis.

This was said by SCCI president Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal and SVP Dr Sarfraz Bashir while talking to newsmen here on Monday. They said feasibility of the project was near completion.

They said early establishment of the centre would definitely help enhance exports of food and vegetable products from Sialkot through its new airport.

They said local businessmen were also planning to set up a composite-based sports goods development centre to cope with the growing demands of hi-tech being used in sports industry.

The chamber office-bearers said construction of an international standard business and commerce centre had been started at a place adjacent to the SCCI’s building on a self-help basis at a cost of Rs140 million.

They said Sialkot-made export products would be displayed at the centre. The new building would have state-of-the-art exhibition halls and business facilitation and women entrepreneur centres.
