MITHI, Jan 29: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that two model villages will be established in each district of the province with the first two to be constructed in the Modur village of Diplo taluka and the Sainsar village of Mithi taluka.

Talking to villagers in the Modur village on Sunday the chief minister directed the officials concerned to include facilities of water, drainage, school, bricked streets and electrification in the master plan for the model village.

He directed the project director of model village organisation to prepare plans for small industrial units for processing wool and hide of sheep and camels, community cattle rearing farms and poultry farms in the rural areas to help bring progress to the backward areas.

He urged the planners to include provision of canal water from the pumping stations through pipelines to the villages situated within a range of ten kilometres, drip irrigation system, grafting of "Sufi Bair", desalination plants and display centres for handicraft in their plans to improve standard of living of Thari people.

He advised people to form development committees in their villages to create awareness about avoiding unnecessary extravagance and increasing income through small businesses.

The teachers’ attendance at the school should be ensured and those guilty of fuelling quarrels among villagers should be removed from service, he said.

The chief minister later inspected work on the watercourses improvement at 19 Mile distributary near Naokot and the work on under-construction 18-kilometre Vingo-Ali Bunder road.
