RAWALPINDI, Jan 28: A World Bank (WB) delegation Sunday visited the new landfill site at Losar and assured the city district government of technical support in this regard.
Project Director Rawalpindi Environment Improvement Project (REIP) Aslam Ali Sabzwari briefed the delegation on various components of the mega project. The delegation comprised Markas Sommerhalder and Roger Pfammatter.
Mr Sabzwari told the WB officials that the new landfill would have the capacity for absorbing 1,000 tons of solid waste a day for next 50 years. He said that dumpers would carry garbage from each union council of Rawal and Potohar Towns to the new landfill. Garbage containers have already been provided to each union council for this purpose, he told the delegation, adding that a culture of cleanliness would be introduced in Rawalpindi city after the completion of the project.
