Man dies as shell explodes

SIALKOT, Jan 27: A sanitary worker died when an old shell which he found in the fields exploded in Badiana, Pasrur, on Saturday. Official sources said Ashiq Masih and two others, all sanitary workers, found the rusting shell in the nearby fields. It exploded with a bang when Masih tried to cut it into pieces with a hammer. Masih died instantly and the blast panicked the locality.

Sources added that the shell was the leftover of the 1965 war.

Intelligence agencies personnel searched for such more explosive devices, but could not find any.

Further investigations were underway.
