LAHORE, Jan 27: Three people allegedly gunned down an FWO contractor after kidnap and escaped in his car in the Islampura area in early hours of Saturday. Police said three people kidnapped Abdul Qadeer, 45, of Chohan Park, from Chohan Road, demanded Rs10 million ransom, killed him and later threw his body on Bund Road.

However, the police arrested main accused Rafaqat along with the deceased’s car at a picket established on Bund Road and the body was also recovered.

They said Qadeer dropped his wife at house after shopping and returned to the shop to pick a water tub but did not return.

A couple of hours later, Qadeer’s wife informed Rescue 15 about her husband’s disappearance and gave them registration number of the car in which he left.

In the meantime, a police picket on Bund Road stopped a car being driven carelessly.

Driver Rafaqat, who was out of senses, was questioned who disclosed that he, his cousin Rehmanullah and Azhar Mahmood of Sawat had stopped Qadeer for a lift, kidnapped him at gunpoint and demanded Rs10 million ransom.

“When Qadeer said he had only Rs10,000 in his pocket and could not pay more money, we shot him dead near Saggian Bridge and threw his body on Bund Road,” the police quoted the accused as saying.

The accused told police that they had planned to kidnap some wealthy person.

The police claimed that Rafaqat dropped Rehman and Azhar soon after the incident.

A case was registered against the three accused.
