Pindi hotels told to tighten security

By A Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Jan 27: The district administration has advised all hotels in Rawalpindi to take special precautionary measures in the wake of suicide attack at Marriott Hotel in Islamabad on Friday.

Owners and representatives of all hotels in the city were called by District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas on Saturday to review the existing security arrangements at various hotels. The meeting was also attended by DCO, DPO and officials of security agencies.

Later, Raja Javed Ikhlas told Dawn that all hotel owners had been asked to adopt extra precautionary measures and install security cameras at different locations of their hotels including entrances of kitchens. They should also appoint young and energetic security guards, he added.

The nazim said owners had been asked to deposit copies of travel documents of all foreigners staying at their hotels with the district police officer.

He said the district administration would remain on high alert during Ashura-i-Muharram, and foolproof security arrangements had also been made for all processions that would be monitored by special cameras.

All hospitals in Rawalpindi have also been put on high alert to cope with any emergency.
