KARACHI: Work on eight roads to start next month

KARACHI, Jan 27: The city government would start work for construction and improvement of eight major roads in the metropolis with an estimated cost of Rs143.8 million from the next month.

The works and services department of the city government invited tenders for the construction of Azeempura Road, Jamot Wali Muhammad Road; Cattle Colony to Coastal Area Road; Rodalt Basti to Rehri; Road 363 from Road-362 to Road-10,000 in Landhi Town; Road-12000 to Road-8000 along Ismail Goth Landhi; Navi Road from Road-16000 to I&T Exchange Korangi-II; New Karachi Road from 11-A to 11-B and construction of footpath along Mewashah Graveyard, Site Town.

Besides, the city government was also planning for the construction of storm water drains, including channelling the Soldier Bazaar drain from Gurumandir to Sultanabad (main drain), Soldier Bazaar drain from Gurumandir to Sultanabad Segment-I (Dhobi Ghat and Empress Market branch) and Segment-II (Lucky Star Branch and Commissioner Office Branch).
