KARACHI: Tawakal’s plea rejected

KARACHI, Jan 27: The Sindh High Court on Saturday dismissed an appeal of Abdul Qadir Tawakal, an ex-director of M/s Tawakal Limited, for acquittal in conviction of a NAB reference.

The High Court maintained the conviction, passed by the trial court of seven-year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs7 million.

Abdul Qadir Tawakal was convicted in a NAB reference by an accountability court in 2005 for causing a huge loss to the national exchequer in a shares fraud case.—APP
