KARACHI: New KUJ office-bearers

KARACHI, Jan 26: Shamim-ur-Rehman and Jawed Asghar Chaudhry have been elected unopposed as president and general secretary of the Karachi Union of Journalists, said a press statement issued by the KUJ on Friday.

According to the statement, at the last day of withdrawals the election committee declared all the office-bearers and members of the KUJ’s executive council elected unopposed.

Other office-bearers who were elected unopposed include Haroon Khalid and Mohammad Ali (vice-presidents), Akbar Ali (treasurer) and Ahmed Khan Malik and Shakeel Silawat (joint secretaries).

The elected members of the executive council are Abdur Razzak Abro, Iqbal Bhatti, Khurshid Zuberi, Ramzan Chandio, Murtaza K. Zulfi, Naeemul Haq and Siddiq Chaudhry.

The election committee also declared 35 delegates elected unopposed who would attend the biennial delegates meeting of the PFUJ in Lahore in March.
