Govt eager to develop remote areas, says minister

PESHAWAR, Jan 25: NWFP Minister for Food, Excise and Taxation Fazal Rabbani has said that the provincial government wants to expedite development works in the remote areas of the province.

Speaking at various meetings at the Mardan circuit house on Thursday, the minister asked the departments concerned to complete development works within the stipulated time.

The Mardan deputy director (works and services), EDO (education), EDO (health), SNGC manager and executive engineer of the public health department were present on the occasion.

The minister said the work on bridges at Husainabad, Sher Ghargh and Barrozai had been completed and work on Lund Khawar and Sher Ghar colleges would be completed in March.

The minister expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work on primary and high schools in Gulshan-i-Rehman, Shah Dhand, Snigal, Lund Khawar, Jalala, Hathian and Nadir Shah Kaley.

He directed departments concerned to streamline development activities and complete the task within limited period so that people of the area could get basic facilities at their doorsteps.

Fazal Rabbani said Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani had allocated funds for the betterment and well-being of the people of the province and they should utilize them judiciously.

He said the MMA government was determined to develop and bring the far-flung and deprived areas of the province at par with the developed ones. Providing basic amenities to the people was the main objective of the provincial government, he added.—PPI
