ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: Armed robbers made off with goods valuing around Rs1 million in a pre-dawn strike at an electronics shop in Blue Area on Thursday. Police said the robbers overpowered the security guard, Izram Khan, and then broke into Madina Electronics. The armed culprits amassed the items and escaped after locking the guard in a room.

According to the investigation officer, value of the looted goods and cash is being ascertained.

ONLINE ADDS: Traders running businesses in Blue Area have strongly protested against the third burglary at the same shop, while the eighth one in the mobile market within the last six months.

They burnt tyres on Fazl-e-Haq Road and blocked it for traffic.

Meanwhile, the shop owner, Mian Asghar, was so much disturbed by the third consecutive incident at his shop that he attempted self-immolation.

Islamabad Mobiles Association President Chaudhry Wasim said that if such incidents were not check the traders would protest at all platforms.
