KARACHI, Jan 24: Off-spinners Naved Zamir and Shahid Malik played key roles in Rising Star and AO Cricket Club’s victories respectively in the NBP-KCCA Inter Club Cricket Championship matches here on Wednesday.
Naved captured five wickets for 43 in ten overs to bowl Rising Star Cricket Club to an exciting ten-run win against Landhi Gymkhana at their own ground.
Earlier, Nadeem Khan struck 78 with eight fours and Tanveer Ahmed made 72 with nine hits to the boundary as Rising Star CC mustered 219-9 in the allotted 40 overs. In response, Landhi Gymkhana were bowled out for 209 in the 39th over despite a fighting 80 by Wasim Ahmed.
Pacer Fayyaz Gul took 4-28 and scored 20 runs for Landhi Gymkhana but all that effort went in vain.
Meanwhile, AO Cricket Club (Blues) beat Hamdam Cricket Club by 22 runs at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, thanks to a brilliant all-round show from Shahid Malik.
Tasawar Abbas slammed 56 with six fours and Shahid Malik cracked 42 with five hits to the boundary as the AO CC Blues made 220-9 in the allotted 40 overs. Hamdam CC, in reply, were spun out for 198 in 38 overs. Shahid Malik claimed five wickets for 22 in ten overs.
