Robbers strike five times

GUJRANWALA, Jan 24: Armed bandits looted two houses, a medical store and took away two motorcycles in five different strikes in and around the city on Wednesday.

Reports said that three outlaws entered the house of Imran Nasir in Rahwali by scaling its boundary wall. The intruders held hostage inmates, locked them in a room, collected Rs35,000 in cash, jewellery, a cell phone and other valuables and escaped.

As many bandits sneaked into Haji Khalid Mehmood’s house in Wapda Town and tied inmates with a rope after holding them hostage. Later, they gathered Rs50,000 in cash, ornaments, three mobile phones and other valuables and fled with the booty.

While three gunmen entered the medical store of Ehsanullah in Aimanabadi Gate. At pistol point, they starved of the owner and customers of Rs35,000 in cash, cell phones and other valuables and escaped. Four armed men deprived Sajid Mehmood of Ittehad Colony and Muhammad Farooq of Lohianwala of their motorcycles.

Police have registered separate cases and are investigating.

RELEASED: Around 62 prisoners involved in minor cases were released by the district and sessions judge during his visit to a jail here on Wednesday.
