QUETTA, Jan 24: The Balochistan government has prepared comprehensive security plan under which special cameras have been installed on the route of 7th and 10th Muharram processions in Quetta and helicopters will be in the air during the processions to avert any untoward incident.

The security plan aimed at ensuring the safe passage of the processions was discussed at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary K.B. Rind, Home Minister Mir Shoaib Nausherwani, Inspector-General of the Frontier Corps Maj-Gen Shujaat Zameer Dar, Inspector-General of Police Tariq Masood Khosa and Home Secretary Tariq Ayub.

The meeting decided that the route of the 7th and 10th Muharram processions and nearby areas would be fully monitored and sealed 24 hours before the processions and no unauthorised vehicle and person would be allowed entry to the area.

The meeting was informed that vehicles of police, local administration and ambulances would be issued special stickers for entry into the sealed area.

A central control room had also been established in the central police office for coordination among law-enforcement agencies.

Inspector-General of the Frontier Corps Maj-Gen Shujaat Zameer Dar informed the meeting that the FC would be deployed at the request of the civil administration.
