KARACHI: Ex-special secretary faces probe

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 24: The government agencies have started investigations into allegations of corruption and misuse of authority against Dr Mohammad Ali, who was special secretary to the chief minister till last week.

He had been making desperate attempts to get his son released from police custody and finally succeeded in sorting out the matter of his son’s alleged misbehaviour with Murtaza Gabol, the son of a special assistant, Malik Ayaz Gabol, on Tuesday through the good offices of the chief minister.

Soon after the patch up, his son was released after four days of detention by the Ferozabad police. The FIR against him was lodged by Mrs Gabol.

Mr Ayaz Gabol confirmed the report, and expressed his gratitude to the chief minister for his due favour. However, the chief minister has declined to keep Dr Mohammad Ali in his set-up in any capacity.

It may be recalled that Dr Mohammad Ali had been brought from the Zarai Taraqqiati Bank and posted as special secretary in grade-20 with powers of the principal secretary.
