Checkposts attacked in Balochistan

QUETTA, Jan 23: Security checkposts came under rocket attack in Kohlu, Wadh and Khuzdar areas and a house was badly damaged in a rocket attack in a village near Bakhtiarabad area of Sibi district on Tuesday.

According to official sources, armed people fired at least two rockets at the checkpost of the Frontier Corps in the Baran-Luck area in Wadh tehsil late on Monday night. Rockets fired from nearby mountains were exploded near the checkpost.

Another rocket fired on the Khuzdar town and exploded near the gate of the camp of the Balochistan Constabulary. The gate of the camp was damaged in the explosion.

Sources said that militants attacked another checkpost of the Frontier Corps in the Kohlu area on Tuesday morning.

Two rockets exploded in an open place near the checkpost, official sources said, adding that FC personnel deployed immediately in the area retaliated with rocket, attacking on the position of the attackers. After the attack, the assailants escaped.

According to another report, some people also fired three rockets on a village near Bakhtiarabad, some 260km east of here, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Rockets exploded near the house of one Rab Nawaz, damaging the house. “The house was badly damaged in the rocket explosions,” a police official of the area said. However, no casualty was reported in all three incidents.
