KARACHI: Saddar Town school saved from land mafia

KARACHI, Jan 23: The Saddar Town administration has saved a school located in Pakistan Chowk from being occupied by the land mafia.

The officials City Education Department issued orders two months ago to evacuate the school premises of Government Model School, Haqqani Chowk, which is in a prime location and hand it over to a private individual.

The City Education Department on the basis of a court order evacuated the school building, built on more than 800 square yards downtown. However, the matter was brought to the notice of the Saddar Town Nazim, who intervened in the matter and rejected the orders issued by the City Education Department.

The Saddar town administration refused to hand over the possession of the school building to a private individual, instead it ensured that the benches and desks beside all office equipment were re-installed in the school. The town nazim has ordered and re-start education activity in the school.
