13sq metre flat in London
LONDON, Jan 23: For sale: one of Britain’s smallest flats with great central London location, celebrity neighbours – and a $337,000 asking price.
Although the property in Cadogan Place, Belgravia, takes up only 13 square metres, estate agent Andrew Scott of Lane Fox has had three offers since it went on the market three days ago, he told AFP on Tuesday.
It seems that buyers in London’s cut-throat property market will sacrifice almost anything to live moments away from the plush Harrods department store and count former prime minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher as a neighbour.
“A lot of people look at it and say: ‘What drugs are you on?’” Scott said.
“What you have to grasp is that it’s one of the most expensive areas in the UK, if not the world...if you work out how much we're asking for it, it’s no more expensive than all the other properties in this area.” Properties in Cadogan Place often sell for up to 12 million pounds, he added.
Agents describe the studio as consisting of a “tiny entrance hall, main studio room with bunk and built-sofa, small galley kitchen (and) shower room with window”.
According to the colloquial British unit for measuring space, there is literally not enough room to swing a cat, as illustrated by newspaper diagrams.—AFP
