Oil export

Published January 24, 2007

LONDON, Jan 23: New OPEC member Angola is set to export a record 1.6 million barrels per day in March, traders said on Tuesday, potentially frustrating OPEC attempts to restrict global supplies.

Crude oil shipments from the second largest oil producer in sub-Saharan Africa are expected to rise by 100,000 bpd from February.

The rise can be attributed to a ramp up in Angola's new offshore Dalia oilfield, which will pump enough to load six 950,000 barrel cargoes in March, up from five in February.International oil companies, who have invested heavily in the country's deep-water fields that can quickly rise to peak production, would be unlikely to welcome potentially costly output cuts.—Reuters
