MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Jan 22: The Pakistan Medical Association office-barer who was kidnapped along with his driver two days ago was released by the abductors, reportedly after receiving Rs3 million as ransom.
The kidnappers had initially demanded Rs10 million as ransom from the family of child specialist Dr Akhtar Javed Tabassum, also district senior vice-president of the PMA.
The family members quoting Dr Tabassum told journalists on Monday that the kidnappers tortured the driver and harassed the PMA leader, who was kept blindfolded during his detention at some unknown place.
Journalists were, however, not allowed to talk to Dr Tabassum.
MURDERED: A man was strangled to death at Mauza Dhuur Klan for unknown reasons.
Reports said Mohammad Walait son of Ghulam Mohammad had been forced to leave his house by his family members due to unknown reasons a few days ago.
On Monday, when Walait was coming to his house, Javed Iqbal, along with his seven accomplices intercepted him. The accused strangled Walait to death.
Qadirabad police, however, registered the case as a `blind murder’.
