ASI suspended

RAWALPINDI, Jan 22: District Police Office (DPO) Rawalpindi Saud Aziz has suspended Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Civil Lines Police for failing to arrest two criminals accused of fraud.

According to reports, an employee of the Habib Metropolitan Bank, Islamabad, Shah Faisal, defrauded Mr Javed by selling him a “controversial plot” and later threatened him, in connivance with his brothers, Azhar Shah and Riaz Shah.

The additional district and sessions judge had dismissed the bail-before-arrest warrant for Faisal Shah, due to which, it is alleged, he escaped from court. The police have been unable to arrest him yet.

On Sunday, the DPO personally probed the case and suspended the investigation officer, ASI Anayat, for “slackness in duty” in failing to arrest Shah and ordered the SHO, Inspector Karim Nawaz Niazi, to carry out further investigation.—Online
