PO arrested
ATTOCK, Jan 22: The special anti-dacoit squad of the elite force arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) near village Domail in the jurisdiction of Basal police on Monday.
District Police Officer Malik Zafar Iqbal told the press that Khalique Dad had kidnapped Haji Saleem for a ransom of Rs1 million last year. However, the kidnap victim was recovered from the custody of the kidnappers by the police. But Khalique Dad remained at large since then.
On a tip-off that the PO would visit Domail village, a police team was deputed at the area early on Monday morning.
At about 9am, the PO along with another person appeared at the scene and was asked to surrender, but they opened fire on the police. However, the police squad arrested them after an encounter of over one hour.
The other person turned out to be his father, Mullah Dad. The police said one Kalashnikov, a shotgun, a pistol and six magazines were recovered from their possession.
