KARACHI, Jan 22: A delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production, headed by Fiza Jenejo, visited Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Monday. According to an ISPR (Navy) press release , during the visit the delegation was given a detailed briefing by the managing director of PN Dockyard, Commodore Saleem Akhtar, on the role, organisation and strategic significance of the dockyard.
He apprised the visiting delegates of the indigenous construction capabilities and infrastructure of PN Dockyard with special emphasis on Agosta 90-B construction project.
He said that PN Dockyard had constructed many complex naval platforms like submarines, mine counter measures vessels and patrol craft by utilising indigenous resources thus saving huge foreign exchange.
The visiting delegates also went round the Submarine Construction Site.
They were appreciative of the professional competence and technical expertise of PN personnel and lauded their dedication in materialising the construction project of these highly complex naval platforms.
