Vehicle hits anti-tank mine: policemen hurt

By Our Correspondent

TANK, Jan 21: Two policemen were wounded when their vehicle hit a remote controlled explosive device on the Wana-Tank road on Sunday, officials said.

They said that a mobile team of Rescue-15, comprising six policemen, was patrolling the Wana-Tank road when their vehicle hit an explosive device, seriously wounding two policemen.

The wounded policemen had been identified as Imran and Isa Khan and were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Dera Ismail Khan.

District Police Officer Attiqullah Wazir said that militants seemed to be using anti-tank mine. He said that it was premature to hold responsible any individual or a particular group for the explosion.

He said that police had defused same type of explosive device planted out side the city police station a few days ago.

Authorities have declared Tank one of the sensitive cities in the NWFP for Muharram and the army has been deployed at key locations.
