GUJRANWALA, Jan 19: Citizens are in the line of fire of dacoits and robbers who strike at will and have literally worsened the law and order to an extent that the people feel insecurity everywhere.
The people have called upon the IGP and the Additional IG to provide protection to them for they neither consider themselves safe in their houses nor in business places and in streets as well.
According to a report gleaned by this correspondent here on Friday, at least three major dacoity incidents have occurred in Kotli Mughalan village in the limits of Ferozewala and Mandiala Warraich police stations during the last 36 hours.
In these strikes, over 30 outlaws in police uniform in the main, barged into a house and took away Rs600,000 in cash, jewellery, dowry of two girls worth Rs600,000 and other valuables, collectively.
It was stated that Additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal suspended Ferozewala SHO Wasim Dar from service and censured other policemen when residents of these localities lodged their strong protest against dacoities.
Citizens question as to why punitive action is not taken against the town police officer and the DSP concerned for their failure to check dacoities, robberies and street crime.
