RAWALPINDI, Jan 19: The city district government on Friday released development funds worth Rs9.9 million under the health sector reforms programme. The decision was made by City District Nazim Raja Javaid Ikhlas in a meeting at the office of Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Zafar Iqbal in Rawalpindi. DO Health Dr Rafique Ahmed and DO Buildings Azeem Gil also attending the meeting.
Out of the total amount, Rs3.8 million will be spent on the upgradation of the tehsil headquarters hospitals in Murree, Taxila, Gujar Khan and Kahuta.
Similarly, Rs6.1 million will be utilised for undertaking different projects including doctors’ residences, procurement of X-ray units and repairs at basic health units.
Meanwhile, DO Health Dr Ansar Ishaq on the instructions of district nazim and Executive District Officer visited the houses of those bitten by rabid dogs few days ago and inquired about their health.
The victims are being vaccinated and as many as 44 people in Dhoke Hukamdad have been provided with vaccine. Twenty-six people were vaccinated on Friday, while the remaining victims had been asked to contact the EDO health office.
The city district government is also killing the rabid dogs and will soon finish this task, said a press release.
