KARACHI, Jan 19: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has asked the officials concerned to complete the road carpeting work in Jaffer-i-Tayyar Society before the advent of Muharram.
He stated this after inaugurating a new sewerage system for the society on Friday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Communications Shamim Siddiqui, KWSB’s Additional Vice Chairmen Imamuddin Shehzad and Tayyab Hashmi, Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Shaikh, MPA Yousuf Munir Sheikh and a large number of area residents.
On the occasion, the nazim was informed that the project worth Rs16.5 million had been completed in 28 days.
The previous system was outdated as it was laid some 37 years ago.
Overflowing gutters on the main road and its streets had become so common that the road had developed craters.
Mustafa Kamal said the city government gave Rs50 million to each town for undertaking water and sewerage works in their respective areas although four town nazims did not belong to Haq Parast group.
“This indicates that the present government was serving the entire city,” he added.
He said the city government would leave no stone unturned in resolving the lingering issues of the masses.
Commending the role of the KWSB and town nazim on completion of the project in 28 days, he assured the area people that water supply issue would also be resolved shortly.
Federal Communications Minister Shamim Siddiqui, who belongs to Malir constituency, lauded the nazim for taking keen interest in resolving issues of the people on war-footings.
Earlier the welcome address was given by Maulana Nazrul Hasnain of Jaffar-i-Tayyar Society.
REFILLING WORK: The additional vice chairman of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, MPA Syed Tayyab Hashmi, taking notice of the slow pace of refilling work on the sewerage line along Shahrah-i-Pakistan has asked the officials concerned to complete the work by Muharram.
