KARACHI: Ulema call on IGP


KARACHI, Jan 19: The Inspector General of Police, Sindh, Jahangir Mirza has said that Loudspeaker Act does not affect Azan, Khutbas being delivered during Juma and Majalis in Muharram.

He was talking to a delegation of Ulema who called on him at Police Head Office.

The delegation, led by Allama Qambar Naqvi, comprised of Maulana Sheharyar Abidi, Maulana Akhtar Hussain Rizvi, Munawar Hussain Shah, Kausar Zaidi, Allama Nazir Taqvi and Dr Mohsin Rizvi. DIG Operations Mushtaq Shah was also present.

The religious scholars apprised the IGP of their problems, who assured them of full cooperation from police.

He said orders in this regard had been issued to the DPOs, DIGs and TPOs across the province.

Ulema could also lodge complaint with IG Sindh's control room in this regard, if any, he added.—PPI
