KARACHI: ‘JI believes in inter-faith harmony’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 19: Speakers at a meeting on Friday urged the scholars and leaders of all religions to spread the message of love and tolerance so that people can live in peace and harmony in society.

The occasion was “Message of Love to Humanity” a function organised by Jamaat Islami (JI) in connection with New Year celebrations for the minority community. Bishop Ejaz Inayat, Mohammad Hussain Mehnati (MMA, MNA), JI Karachi chief Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Father Gulfam, Dr Jaipal Chhabaria, Yunus Khan, Salamat Khokhar, Ashraf Rehmat, Helen Salem, Muslim Pervaiz and others spoke on the occasion.

The speakers said all religions taught love with humanity and to respect others, but vested interests always misled innocent people and created mistrust and spread hatred among the members of different communities to exploit the situation for their own benefit.

They urged the people to study their respective religions thoroughly so that vested interests were not able to misguide them. They also urged people to increase their interaction with the members of all communities so that they have first hand information about each other.

The speakers said with more interaction, the misconceptions that had been created by vested interests would vanish, and people would have more understanding and tolerance for each other.
