KARACHI, Jan 18: Karachi Harbour’s bowlers made life difficult for Peshawar as only 17 overs of play was possible on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Thursday.
Dull overcast conditions, accompanied by blustery winds and light drizzle left Karachi Harbour skipper Naumanullah with no option but field first after winning the toss after the umpires decided to start the game at 1.20pm.
Anwar Ali Khan, fresh from his 12-wicket exploit against Rawalpindi, made the initial breakthrough when he had Mohammad Fayyaz LBW for 4.
Fellow paceman Faraz Ahmed then struck twice to have Peshawar reeling at 19 for three. But Shoaib Khan and Wajahatullah Wasti stopped the rot to ensure Peshawar end the day at 43 for three.
