LONDON, Jan 18: Former Australian captain Richie Benaud will hear South African Herschelle Gibbs's appeal against his two-Test ban for making derogatory comments about Pakistanis, the International Cricket Council said on Thursday.
A date for the appeal has not been set but it is expected to be held between the second and third tests, the ICC added in a statement, meaning Gibbs would be available for the second Test beginning in Port Elizabeth on Friday.
Stump microphones picked up Gibbs using foul and abusive language during the first Test against Pakistan at Centurion last Sunday.
He lodged an appeal on Tuesday against the ban imposed by match referee Chris Broad.—Reuters
