Published January 19, 2007

ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: PML-N on Thursday condemned the arrests of political leaders and activists in Balochistan and said the party was preparing a plan to launch a countrywide protest against the ongoing military action in the province.

Speaking at a news conference, PML-N MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq and senior vice-president of the party Syed Zafar Ali Shah termed the Balochistan situation alarming, saying it had endangered the federation.

The MNA said the party had decided to raise the issue in the forthcoming session of the National Assembly. Condemning the military operations in Waziristan and Balochistan, he said the people of these areas were not miscreants as declared by the regime.— Staff Reporter
