POL prices cut: no relief to commuters

RAWALPINDI, Jan 18: The benefits of recent reduction in the prices of diesel and petroleum have not trickled down to the commuters in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The federal government on Monday announced the reduction in the prices of diesel and petroleum but the corresponding decrease in the rates of fares has not been made in the twin cities.

The residents, who are hard-hit by skyrocketing prices of daily-use items, were expecting some respite after the announcement, but that has not materialised.

“When the prices of petroleum and diesel are increased, the transporters automatically increase the fares,” Anees Haider, a commuter in a private transport wagon said while talking to this reporter.— Our Reporter
