SUKKUR, Jan 18: President of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, has said that tribal feuds in Sindh were part of rulers’ policy to divide and rule.

Addressing a public gathering at clock tower here on Thursday, he said that negative policies of the waderas, srdars and Generals were responsible for the prevailing conditions in he country and demanded of the people to oust the United States and its agents.

He said that the waderas, sardars and chaudharies were exploiting the masses for their own good. Strongly slamming lawlessness in Sindh he said that islands of Sindh were being sold to foreign companies to what he termed “set drug and obscenity dens” there. He appealed to the people to get united to foil the designs of their enemies.

He said that he had come all the way to Sukkur to apprise the people of the dangers faced by the country and democracy.

He said President Musharraf’s re-election bid by the present assemblies was against ethics.

He said that he was not afraid of bomb blasts and would stage a sit-in in Islamabad till the ouster of present rulers.

Strongly slamming the foreign policies of the government, he said that President Musharraf was even ready to accept Line of Control(LoC) as border between Pakistan and India, while he was also planning to fix barbed wire and plant landmines at the borders with Afghanistan.

He alleged that General Musharraf, while forgetting sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiris, was eager to take a U-turn on Kashmir.

He said rising inflation, unemployment and lawlessness have made the lives of the people miserable who could not even provide basic needs to their children.

Earlier, Qazi Hussain Ahmed led a big protest rally, which started from Sukkur bypass and after marching on main roads, gathered at the clock tower where it converted into a public gathering.

Others who spoke on the occasion included, Secretary General of JI, Syed Munawwar Hassan, Ameer of JI Sindh chapter and MNA Asadullah Bhutto, Dr. Mairajul-Huda Siddiqui, Mumtaz Hussain Sahito, President of Tehrik-i-Insaaf Sindh, Zubair Khan, Central Vice president of Sindh National Front, Allah Warrayo Soomro and others.

TWO BANDITS DIE: The Daharki police killed two and arrested an injured bandit, after an encounter in Ranwti, near Daharki on Thursday.

According to police sources, the gang of Kiri Shar raided Ranwti town and started looting the residents. A police party appeared on the scene and the bandits opened fire which was returned by the police.

An encounter took place between the bandits and the police, and as a result of which Fateh Mohammad alias Fatoo Shar and Karam Shar died and another bandit Mithoo alias Kiri Shar was arrested while their other accomplices escaped.
