KARACHI: Hamara Karachi Festival ends

KARACHI, Jan 18: The closing ceremony of Hamara Karachi Festival were held on Thursday on the grounds of the KMC building. Naib Nazim Karachi Mrs Nasreen Jalil hosted the show. Several diplomats were also present on the occasion.

The show started with an Indonesian culture show that showcased wedding traditions from various provinces of Indonesia.

The show ended with the troupe presenting a traditional dance from the promise of Sumatra.

This was followed by an emotional and provocative speech by a young girl that highlighted the glory of Karachi’s past and present.

The highlight of the programme was an adaptation of Khwaja Moinuddin’s classic play, Taleem-i-Balighan. The Maulvi Sahib took his students and audience through a nostalgic journey of Karachi’s history highlighting all the significant milestones. The play climaxed with a song and dance performance on the remix of the famous songs “Bundar Road Say Keamari”. The song depicted the fashions and lifestyles of the last few decades.

The acting was supplemented by a sound and light show to give the audience a realistic picture of the various historic events.
