KARACHI, Jan 18: Mohammad Rafi of Nazimabad Town and Kiran Aslam of North Karachi Town won the final of the Inter Towndeclamation contest organised by the Nazaria-e-Pakistan Foundation, Sindh Committee, and the Education Department, City District Government Karachi at a local hotel yesterday.
The programme divided into primary and secondary students sections, was contested by 20 children who were short listed from 3,603 students.
Secretary Nazria-e-Foundation Pakistan Dr Rafiq Ahmed presided over the programme, which was attended by a large number of students and teachers.
The most remarkable thing about the event was the contestants’ enthusiasm. They impressed the audience with their fiery speeches on 'Muslman kisi mushkil se ghabraya nahin karta'. The hall was jam-packed from beginning till end with students and teachers encouraging contestants with frequent clapping.
In the primary classes section, Mohammad Rafi (Class III) of Govt Boys Primary School,
Green Lane, Nazimabad won the first prize. Mohammad Waleed (Class IV) of CDGK Local Bodies School No 24, Azeempura, Shah Faisal Town won the second prize; Sana Waris (Class V) of Govt Girls Primary School, Township, Baldia Town shared the third prize with Nazish Shaukat (Class V) of Govt Girls Primary School, Block 6, North Karachi.
In the other section, Kiran Aslam (Class X) of Govt Secondary School, 5-A, North Karachi won the first prize. Soban Baig, CDGK Local Bodies Secondary School
No.2, Bin Qasim Town and Bakhtwar Jabeen (Class IX) Govt Girls Secondary School, Husrat Mohani, Site Town won the second and third prize respectively.
