Sitara-i-Eisaar awarded to Kuwaiti

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: The government of Pakistan on Wednesday conferred a Sitara-i-Eisaar to the chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Barges Hamoud Al Barges, for his services during the devastating earthquake of October 2005 in Pakistan.

A special ceremony was organised at the Pakistan embassy premises, which was attended by KRCS officials and Kuwaiti and Pakistanis dignitaries.

KRCS has so far sent 12 tons of medicines, 10,000 tents, 121,420 blankets, 8,500 food kits and 2,000 stoves. It has also established two mobile hospitals with 40 beds capacity each in Muzaffarabad and Balakot.

Beside relief work, the KRCS also transferred US$ 250,000 to the account of Pakistan Red Crescent Society for subsequent disbursement among the affectees.
