Naeem spins Punjab CC to big victory


KARACHI, Jan 16: Off-spinner Naeem Mushwani produced an amazing spell of bowling to steer Punjab Cricket Club to a comprehensive 128-run win over Hyderi Gymkhana in the NBP-KCCA Inter Club Cricket Championship at Punjab Ground here on Monday.

Naeem took five wickets for five runs in 21 deliveries to spin out Hyderi Sports for 128 in 23 overs. Earlier, Punjab CC, batting first, through Mohammad Shakeel (116 with 13 boundaries) and Rehan Hassan (101 with six 4s), piled up 256-7 in 40 overs.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Mohammad Ashraf took five wickets for 29 and Ishtiaque Ghauri scored 108 with ten hits to the ropes as Airport Star Cricket Club defeated All Friends Cricket Club by four wickets at the Airport Stadium.

In the meantime, opener Fazl-ur-Rehman scored an undefeated 113 with 14 fours as Federal Sports trounced Orangi United Cricket Club by seven wickets at the Federal Ground.
