Prisoner hanged

QUETTA, Jan 16: A prisoner condemned to death was executed in the Mach central prison on Tuesday, while the hanging of another prisoner was deferred owing to a compromise.

An official of the central jail confirmed that Hamidullah, of Pishin, had been executed. He was awarded capital punishment by a trial court and the apex court had upheld the verdict. He was condemned to death for killing his wife and three children some 15 years ago, and being without heirs he was buried in the jail’s graveyard.

The execution of another prisoner in the death row, Mir Mohammad, was fixed for Tuesday. However, it was deferred when the heirs of the murdered persons pardoned him late on Monday night.—Correspondent
