KARACHI: Display centres planned

KARACHI, Jan 16: Sindh Local Government Minister Muhammad Hussain has said active participation of all districts of Sindh in Hamara Karachi festival would enhance harmony and cohesion among the people of Sindh.

Visiting various stalls after inaugurating ‘Shoppers Bazaar’, organised as part of the festival on Tuesday, he said artisans and craftsmen of Sindh had a unique style and unmatched skills and were renowned for their perfection, concentration and utmost detailing. There was a need to promote and preserve the handicrafts of Sindh for the coming generations, he said and added that the government would consider the setting up of a district display centre, where all the districts of Sindh could display and sell their products.

He said Karachiittes were deeply touched by the gesture of goodwill demonstrated by every district of the province with their visible participation. The people of Karachi would never forget their support towards the success of this festival, he observed.

The minister appreciated the models, photographs and products at Sukkur district stall and praised a handless woman at the stall who operated a laptop with her feet.

He also visited the stalls established by Umerkot, Ghotki, Naushero Feroz, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Khairpur and other districts.

Mohammed Hussain congratulated the City District Government Karachi for arranging a successful event with a variety of activities.—APP
