Border security steps lauded

ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: The visiting vice-foreign minister of Japan on Monday appreciated the measures being taken by Pakistan for border control with Afghanistan. Masakazu Sekiguchi expressed these views during a meeting with Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri. According to a foreign office press release, Mr Kasuri expressed the hope that “all stakeholders would take appropriate measures for peace, security and development of Afghanistan.”

The foreign minister welcomed Japan as a Saarc observer and Mr Sekiguchi said his country looked forward to working directly with Pakistan in the Saarc framework.—Q.A
