Punjab, KPT and Navy boxers shine

KARACHI, Jan 15: Punjab, hosts Karachi Port Trust and Pakistan Navy dominated National Cadet and Junior Boxing Championships quarter-finals at KPT Sports Complex on Monday.

In cadet category, three Punjab boxers qualified for the semi-finals, while two KESC pugilists also reached the last four.

While Punjab saw two of their boxers moving ahead in junior class, equal number of KPT and Pakistan Navy boxers also reached semi-finals.

Results (quarter-finals):

Cadet:

46kg: Nadir Ali (KESC) bt Akhtar (Sindh) 26-14; Mohammad Waqas (Punjab) bt Shaharyar (NWFP) 21-17.

48kg: Abdul Wahid (KPT) bt Azmat (Punjab) RSC/CCL/II.

50kg Mohammad Ahmad (Punjab) bt Mir Waiz (NWFP) 16-5.

52kg: Usman Butt (Punjab) bt Mushir Khan (Sindh) 8-6.

54kg: Mohammad Hussain (Sindh) bt Taj Mohammad (KPT) 15-11; Shah Nawaz (KESC) bt Asim Khan (Punjab) 18-6 RSC/OC/II.

Junior:

51kg: Irfan Kachchi (KPT) bt Abdul Razzaq (Navy) 34-18; Abdul Wahab (Sindh) bt Aneel (KESC) 32-24; Naimatullah (Balochistan) bt Habib (NWFP) 25-10.

54kg: Asif (Navy) bt Sardar Mohammad (Balochistan) 16-5; Mohammad Arshad (Punjab) bt Khalil Ahmad (Sindh) 36-19.

57kg: Mohammad Iqbal (KPT) bt Faisal Shah (Sindh) 20-9; Sajid Farman (Punjab) bt Abdul Rauf (KESC) 7-5.

69kg: Hassan Asif (KESC) bt Akram Ali (Punjab) RSC/OS/II; Majid Ali (Navy) bt Abi Jozi Khan (Sindh) RSC/OS/II.
