KARACHI, Jan 15: Since the decision of holding SSC composite examinations has been a source of concern for students, teachers and parents, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would oppose this decision.

This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari.

According to a press release issued here on Monday, the minister was speaking at the launching ceremony of a book by Prof. Mohammad Maqsood Ali titled ‘College Mathematics with MCQs’ at a local hotel here on Sunday night.

He said that due to the ban on recruitment since the last 11 years, Sindh was presently facing with shortage of teachers. He hoped that the shortage would be met by the year 2008.

Mr Bukhari said that the present government was working for the improvement of all sectors including education. He said that during the last four years many new colleges and schools had been set up and many others upgraded. He said that postgraduate classes had been started not only in Karachi colleges but also in the interior of Sindh.

The minister lauded efforts of the author, saying writing a book nowadays was a laborious job and hoped that the book would help a lot to students in Mathematics.

Karachi Mathematics Association president Prof Dr Nasir Khan, Principal S. M. Science College Jameel Shaikh, Prof Riaz Ahsan, Prof Illyas Rehbar and Prof Amjad were also present.—PPI
