Six hurt as helicopter crash-lands

By Our Correspondent

MIANWALI, Jan 14: Six people suffered minor injuries when an interior ministry helicopter on its way from the Chaklala Air Base in Rawalpindi to Quetta crash-landed on a hilltop near Bani Afghan village, about 50 kilometres from here, near the site for Kalabagh dam, on Sunday.

Pilot (Maj) Habib, co-pilot (Maj) Yasin and four others on board got away from the helicopter.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the helicopter swirling in the air and it was producing strange sounds before it landed atop hills near the village.

Another helicopter reached the place and lifted the crew and passengers.

The Air Force authorities from the local base and police cordoned off the area.

The Air Force authorities could not immediately be contacted to know further details of the crash landing.
