KARACHI, Jan 14: A maiden century by Adnan Raees almost earned Abbottabad an unlikely first-innings lead against Hyderabad in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League fixture against Hyderabad at the Niaz Stadium on Sunday.

Adnan scored 137 off 279 balls in 378 minutes and struck 14 furs and one six as the visitors made 399 in reply to Hyderabad’s 400 on day three.

Resuming at 168 for four with the left-handed Adnan on 52, Abbottabad fought back into contention via a sixth-wicket stand worth 119 between Adnan and Riaz Kail (56, seven fours).

Off-spinner Nasir Awais captured five for 59, the 22-year-old’s best figures in first-class cricket.

Hyderabad reached 45 for one in their second innings at stumps.
