Teachers’ march

LAHORE, Jan 14: Punjab Teachers’ Union secretary-general Chaudhry Taj Haider has said teachers of government schools will march from Data Darbar to the Assembly Chambers on Feb 15 to press for the acceptance of their demands.

In a statement issued on Sunday, he said teachers were struggling for the release of teaching allowance in accordance with announcements by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, a uniformed pay and allowance for federal and provincial government schools, big city allowance for village schools, regularisation of teachers employed on contract, charge allowance for head teachers and restoration of move-over and selection grade facilities. —Reporter
